Address is a handmade electronic jewelry piece. When you first acquire the pendant, you select a place that you consider to be your anchor – where you were born, your home, or perhaps the place you long to be. Once the jewelry is initialized, every time you wear the piece it displays how many kilometers you are from that location, using a GPS component built into the pendant. As you take Address around the world with you, it serves as a personal connection to that place, making the world a little smaller or maybe a little bigger.

Working Documents for Address project.

Details for the exhibition version of Address

1. Technical description & document

Links to datasheets of main components:

Arduino mini --currently being replaced by Atmel + basic components only
HCMS 2912 alphanumeric display
GPS module used.
MAX 1555 battery charger breakout board
MAX 1555 chip datasheet
MAX 756 step-up voltage
3.7 V single cell Lithium Ion battery

Note: We are working on droping the Arduino mini all together and redesign a circuit specific to Address. We are hestitant to do this for this next version due July 15th.

2. Code

Code currently writen in Arduino 007. Code still in progress, use at your own risk. June 19th, 2007 version. GPS code still needs some modifications.

We also create a small processing application for the demonstration of the necklace when GPS is not available.
August 2nd, 2007 version for Processing 118 to 124.
