Mini power plant for small projects

Plug in a solar cell or use the hand crank to create your personal source of power. The latest version of the PPP charges 9V batteries.

NOTE: For the zener diodes on the circuit, place then as follow
Z3 - 4736A
Z2 - 4735A
Z1 - 5231B

Materials

1. Electronics

For the power plant circuit

  • 1 Stepper motor
  • 1 Solar panel (see BuyingSolar for some options
  • 1 Zener diode for solar circuit
  • 8 SCHOTTKY diodes,1N5817 (currently using 1N4001)
  • 1 x rechargeable NIMH battery
  • 2feet hook-up wire (at least 2 colors)

For the visual multimeter (double check)

  • 1 Red LED, 1.5V
  • 1 Yellow LED, 2.1 V
  • 1 Green LED, 2.1 V
  • 1 220 Ohm resistor
  • 3 zener diodes
  • 1 momentary switch

  • PCB prototyping board
  • Printed Board Map
  • 3 x terminal blocks

3. Enclosure

  • Cardoard box
  • Gears

4. Equipment

  • Soldering iron
